FileDirector and AD authentication
Good day. We are running version 2.7 of FileDirector Enterprise Manager. The OS account import scheduled script is enabled to run once a day at 12am. The system has been working well for many years. This morning, all users disappeared from the system and no one could log in. I had a look in the FD_Config database and the Accounts table and it only contained the default entries. Because of this, all the Cab_Rights tables in all my FD_ databases were also empty. We investigated the log files and found that the scheduled script running on the FileDirector server could not make connection to the Active Directory. It then subsequently removed/resign all groups and users from the system. Sad

Is there a way to prevent the system from automatically deleting all accounts when the script runs and can't connect to the Domain Controllers? I had to restore the FD_Config database from previous nights backup and restore all the Cab_Rights tables from my 30 Cabinets.

Thanks

If you open up the schedule for the OS account import you should be able to click on the "OS Account Import" tab. Uncheck the third option "Delete accounts which no longer exist on your domain/computer". This way if the connection is lost again it shouldn't remove the accounts. Thank goodness you had a backup.

In FD v3.0 these properties of 'OS account import' scheduler are removed.
Hope the new version is designed to handle this type of issues.

Agreed. I had this very same concern when I saw those options were removed in FD v3.0.
